Portland City Hall Closed Until Further Notice
As of yesterday Monday November 16th, Portland City Hall has closed its doors until further notice. The city on there website has said that the reason for the closing is to “protect our residents and staff and to promote the continuity of operations.”
You should not be alarmed of the recent closing as the city will continue to offer the services that you expect from the Portland City Hall, expect it will be done virtually. Even though the front doors and lobby are closed, you can still always get in touch with with them via a phone call or email. The city of Portland does have drive-thru/drop box that you can utilize if you prefer the physical location over using the services that the city provides online. It should be noted that the city will continue to provide essentials services during this time.
It is unknown when Portland City Hall will open back up again. Governor Kate Brown on Friday November 13th announced that she will be enforcing a two week state wide freeze in response to the recent surge in Covid cases in the state of Oregon. Some of the measures in the new two week freeze include:
- Gyms, museums, pools, zoos, gardens, indoor entrainment activities will be closed
- Bars and restaurants are only available for take-out
- Gatherings limited to six people
- Business suggested to work from home
- Faithful gathers limited to 25 indoors people or 50 people outdoors
- No visitors to long term care
The two week freeze will be in effect from Monday November 18th through Wednesday December 2nd. It should be noted that the freeze will continue until December 16th for Multnomah County. It is unknown if the freeze will continue if the number of cases don’t slow down.
